This is the Manchester Evening News logo, I think that overall it's effective and stands out to the reader. The basic black white and red colour scheme works well. The style of the font is also a serif, but compared to the 'Wigan Observer', which also uses a serif font, it looks more professional. The small red slogan is placed nicely on the page and doesn't dominate the whole logo.
This title stands out and fits together nicely so there's no big gaps in the logo. Once again it says that it's for 'Leigh' so I can easily see that it's a local newspaper. The use of 3 main colours works well because the red and black can clearly be seen on the white background, creating a good logo for the front page.
When creating my own newspaper I will ensure that the title is clear and the colours contrast well with each other, the slogan for my newspaper needs to be included to ensure that it looks professional but it doesn't dominate the whole page. I will use basic colours as they work the best. I think I will also include the area in which my newspaper will be, so it's made clear to the reader.
